Georgetown Gets Past Princeton, 5-2
February 29, 2020 | Softball
Georgetown's London Diller and Katie Vannicola scattered six hits and allowed two runs in helping the Hoyas defeat the Princeton softball team 6-2 Saturday afternoon at George Washington.
A walk, a hit batter and a base hit gave Georgetown a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and that held until the third when Princeton got a Megan Donahey single, a Serena Starks single and an error that reached Allison Harvey to score Donahey and tie it up.
Georgetown took the lead back in its next at-bat, as two base hits and two errors helped put the Hoyas up 3-1.
It stayed there until the sixth, when Georgetown tacked on a run on a single, a double and a wild pitch, but Princeton got that run back in the bottom half of the inning on a Madison Hamilton leadoff double, a Hannah Lutz flyout and an Alex Colón squeeze to make it 4-2 for Georgetown.
The Hoyas picked up a run in the seventh on a Noelle Holiday home run on the way to the 5-2 win.
Starks led Princeton with a 2-for-4 game at the plate.Â
Princeton will wrap up its stay in D.C. Sunday with a pair of games, first against George Washington at 9 a.m. and then against Morgan State at 11 a.m. Live scoring can be found here.
