No. 17 Princeton Falls to No. 7 NC State at ITA National Indoors

CHICAGO – The No. 17 Princeton University women's tennis team put up valiant effort in its opening round match at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Championships Friday morning, but fell 4-0 to No. 7 North Carolina State University.
The Tigers will now move into the back draw and face Arizona State University (6-1) tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET.
Doubles
The Tigers picked up a victory at the No. 3 position as Zoe Howard and Clare McKee overcame Lexi Keberle and Liz Norman, 6-3. No. 47 Grace Joyce and Daria Frayman came close to knocking off the top-ranked duo of Anna Rogers and Alana Smith at No. 1 as they took an early 3-1 advantage. Joyce and Frayman came close but could not hold onto their lead, falling 6-3.
Singles
At the No. 1 position, No. 34 Brianna Shvets forced a tiebraker in the opening set against #20 Alana Smith, but came up just short at 7-6 (6), 6-3. No. 98 Frayman took the first set 6-2 over No. 43 Rogers, at No. 2 but the match went unfinished. Joyce also had success in the opening set against Kerbele at No. 4 as she triumphed 6-3, but her match would also go unfinished.
