Fillier, Thompson Selected to Canada's Team for 2020 Worlds
March 10, 2020 | Women's Ice Hockey
Sarah Fillier and Claire Thompson were selected by Team Canada once again, this time as part of the roster for the 2020 Women's Ice Hockey World Championships, which were set for March 31 through April 10 in Nova Scotia.
The tournament was canceled earlier in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The selection was Fillier's and Thompson's second of the season, with the Tiger pair skating for Canada in a pair of exhibition games against Team USA outside PIttsburgh in November.
The season, which will continue Saturday in the NCAA quarterfinals at Northeastern, has been an outstanding one for both players. Fillier was a first-team All-Ivy League and first-team All-ECAC pick, was a top10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, a top-three finalist for the ECAC Player of the Year and Best Forward honors, and was named the ECAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

Just coming to the conclusion of her sophomore season, Fillier is already more than halfway to Princeton's career records for assists and points, entering the NCAA tournament with 69 assists and 111 points and the records at 122 assists and 218 points.
Thompson, a senior, is also set to finish her career among the best Tigers at her position, with 87 career points to stand fifth among defensemen in program history. This season, Thompson was a second-team All-Ivy and second-team All-ECAC pick while joining Fillier on the ECAC All-Tournament team and as Princeton's finalist for the ECAC's Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year Award.
