No. 17/21 Princeton Finishes Regular Season With Perfect Ivy Record

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 17 Princeton Tigers wrapped up the regular season with a 69-50 victory over the Cornell Big Red at Newman Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Princeton finishes the regular season at 26-1 overall and on a 22-game winning streak. Their streak is the second longest in the NCAA behind just No. 1 South Carolina. No. 2 Baylor puts its 21-game streak on the line tomorrow.

It's the fourth time in program history that Princeton has gone 14-0 in the Ivy League. The Tigers will take on the Columbia in the Ivy League Tournament on Friday, Mar. 13, at 4:30 p.m.

Bella Alarie led all scorers with 17 points while Carlie Littlefield (11), Julia Cunningham (11) and Abby Meyers (10) each scored in double figures. Alarie also had eight rebounds, five blocks and three assists in the win.

Each team shot the ball over 50 percent in the first quarter as the Tigers held a 17-14 advantage after 10 minutes.

Cornell's Dylan Higgins recorded a layup just 62 seconds in to the second quarter to cut the home team's deficit to one, 19-18.Â

The Big Red would have just two free throws the rest of the half. Princeton ran off a 13-2 sprint to take a 32-20 halftime lead. Alarie had 13 of her 17 points in the first 20 minutes.

Cornell hung around within single digits before a trey by Littlefield at 2:49 mark of the third stanza set the contest as a 46-34 affair. Princeton closed out the third with authority, registering 12 of the final 14 points, taking a 19-point lead (55-36) in the fourth frame.

The Big Red never made it a contest the rest of the way.

The three-time Ivy League Champions' closest margin of victory in conference action was 14 points. All, but one of the Tigers' wins this season have come by at least 10 points.
