May 15, 2020 | Men's Basketball
BE'ER SHEVA, Israel - A pair of former members of the Princeton University men's basketball team will be reunited in the professional ranks as Amir Bell '18 signed with Hapoel Be'er Sheva of the Israeli Premier League, the current team of Spencer Weisz '17.
Bell has signed for the remainder of the Israeli Winter League season with an option for another season as the duo will look to replicate the success they had at Princeton, where they helped lead the Tigers to an Ivy League title in the 2016-17 season.Â
Bell is coming off a stellar season for the Kuala Lumpar Dragons in the ASEAN League; he stuffed the stat sheet for the Dragons and averaged 15.8 points per game along with 7.2 assists per game and 7. 2 rebounds per game.
"I'm really excited about signing in Israel," said Bell. "It's a really competitive league and a great opportunity to reunite. Being able to play with Spencer will be really special, he's a great player and teammate. Hopefully we'll be able to duplicate the same type of success we saw together in college.
Weisz also showed the all-around game he displayed as a Tiger, averaging 10.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He also ranked third in the league in steals with 1.9 per game.
"I'm extremely excited to reconnect with Amir on the court," said Weisz. "We had a special bond while playing together at Princeton and I look forward to continuing that chemistry at the professional level."
