PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Field Hockey held virtual 5K last week to raise money for the Black Women in Sport Foundation.
Â
It was a resounding success as the team gathered 176 donors for a total of $5,893.
Â
"The team did a fantastic job of organizing and coordinating this effort," said head coach Carla Tagliente. "We want to thank all of the families, friends, and alumnae who supported this endeavor. We hope to build on this and continue to impact positive change in our sport and in our communities."
"We are so privileged as student-athletes at Princeton to have a large platform to speak out against racial injustice," said Clara Roth. "We want to use this platform to promote inclusivity and equal opportunity in our sport. Partnering up with an organization like the Black Women in Sport Foundation, who works to increase access to our sport and grow the game of field hockey within BIPOC communities, means so much to us, and we are so thankful to our Princeton Field Hockey community for supporting this initiative."

Established in 1992, the Black Women in Sport Foundation, or BWSF, is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the involvement of black women and girls in all aspects of sport, including athletics, coaching and administration. BWSF's work, however, is not limited to black women and girls. It enrolls girls and boys in the programs conducted throughout the city of Philadelphia and surrounding areas. It facilitates the involvement of women of color in every aspect of sport in the United States and around the world, through the "hands-on" development and management of grass roots level outreach programs. Our first fundraiser for the Black Women in Sport Foundation was a resounding success! Thank you so much for all your support! Swipe right to see some pictures of our virtual 5K last weekend. pic.twitter.com/jN3sWaK8aE
