Women's Water Polo Collects Another Academic Honor

PRINCETON – The Princeton Tigers continue to collect academic accolades as the entire team was named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Scholar-Athlete Team.
Previously named the All-Academic Team, the program honors student-athletes who have achieved grade point averages of 3.2 or higher and competed during the COVID-19 abbreviated 2020 women's season.
Overall, 50 athletes were honored with Outstanding (3.71-4.0) recognition, while 77earned Superior (3.41-3.7) and 44 were recognized with Excellent (3.2-3.4) accolades.
To be selected, student-athletes must be active participants on a team and a full-time student at the institution which nominated them. Active participation includes the requirement to have played in at least one league game during the season. Freshmen through graduate students are eligible for the award.
Mindy Pang, Jamie Kim, Sarah Lawson and Genevieve Fraipont earned outstanding honors (4.0-3.71), CiCi Stewart, Alana Evans, Amy Castellano, Annie Robinson and Marissa Webb collected Superior accolades (3.70-3.41), while Maddie Pendolino, Nicole Kresich, Kailie McGeoy, Margarita Orlova, Maisie McPherson, Isabel Zaller and Laura Larkin nabbed Excellent distinctions (3.40-3.21).
Princeton also posted a 3.51 team GPA as well. The Tigers were 8-3 on a six-game winning streak before the Ivy League cancelled all spring sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For a great story on senior Amy Castellano's fantastic career Princeton, check out this story.
