Men's Soccer Stays In Front Of Ivy Race With 4-1 Win At Harvard
October 23, 2021 | Men's Soccer
Senior Kevin O'Toole did what leaders do, factoring in on all four goals with a hat trick and an assist. Lucas Gen had the other goal for the Tigers.
O'Toole now had seven goals and two assists over his last four games. His six assists this season are tied for 15th-most in a season by a Tiger all-time, and he now sits tied for No. 5 all-time in career assists with 15 helpers.
The Tigers (8-5-0, 4-0-0 Ivy) answered quickly after the Crimson (5-5-3, 0-2-2 Ivy) took a 1-0 lead in the first half. Cornelius Bencsik scored for Harvard in the 38th minute, but that lead would hold for just 1:48 before Gen headed home the equalizer off a corner kick service from O'Toole.

That score held up until the 53rd minute when O'Toole took over with three goals in a span of 7:23.
First, Malik Pinto sprung O'Toole down the right flank where he found space to send a shot from the top of the box inside the far left post to give Princeton a 2-1 lead.
Just over three minutes later, O'Toole cross-over a defender and then let a shot go through a screen which sailed past a diving Harvard keeper to give Princeton some insurance. Daniel Diaz-Bonilla and James Wangsness had the assists, putting together some slick passes to bring the play from the left side of the attacking third over to the right where O'Toole was primed to delver.Fifth Goal Of The Season For Kevin O'Toole!

O'Toole capped his hat trick with a penalty kick goal in the 61st minute. Daniel Diaz-Bonilla drew the foul inside the box with a strong move along the end line, and O'Toole then stepped forward and knocked in his third of the game with a solid strike to the right post.

Jack Roberts made four saves in the win, all four coming in the first half.
The four goals scored are the most by a Princeton team against Harvard since 10/19/90 when the Tigers shut out the Crimson, 4-0, in Princeton. The last time Princeton scored four goals in an Ivy match was in 2009 when the Tigers defeated Yale, 4-0, on 11/13/09.
Princeton is home for three of its final four matches, starting with a non-Ivy contest with Fordham on October 26 at 8 p.m.
