Men's Soccer Keeps Rolling With 2-1 Win Over Fordham
October 26, 2021 | Men's Soccer
The Tigers scored once in each half, connecting twice on rebounds left laying in the box.
Still, the game hung in the balance late as the Rams made a push. Sam Morton stood tall in the final five minutes with a pair of point-blank saves keeping Princeton in front. His most spectacular save came with 3:45 remaining, a diving denial of Galen Flynn who was all alone off the far right post.

That save made a Daniel Diaz-Bonilla goal hold up as the game-winner. DDB jumped on the rebound of a Kevin O'Toole shot which clanged off the crossbar, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead in the 51st minute.

O'Toole's shot rings off the bar, but DDB sends home the rebound for a 2-1 lead.
Another great entry from Pinto to set up the play, too! pic.twitter.com/KjjjU3TUHC
Both of Princeton's goals came off rebounds. The first was a strike from Francis Akomeah-Sirleaf who hammered home a goal under the crossbar after a Ryan Clare shot was saved in the 21st minute.

Both of Princeton's goals came off smooth entires initiated by Malik Pinto. The sophomore midfielder had the corner kicks into the mixer which led to Clare's shot and the first goal, and on Diaz-Bonilla's goal it was a nifty through pass from Pinto to O'Toole which put the defense on its heels and spread the Rams out to allow Diaz-Bonilla to sneak free for the rebound.
Fordham's goal came in the 35th minute, with Luke McNamara heading home a Max Rogers cross.
The Tigers are finished with non-conference play, ending that out-of-Ivy slate at 5-5-0. It is all Ancient Eight the rest of the way, starting with a matchup against No. 20 Cornell on Saturday at Sherrerd Field. The Tigers sit three points ahead of the Big Red in the Ivy standings, and kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
