Women's Basketball Locks Down Maine, 82-43

Maine's Anne Simon hit a pull up jumper to put her squad in front, 4-2, four minutes into the game.
The Black Bears did not score the rest of the quarter.
It was that kind of defensive performance for the Princeton Tigers as they rolled to an 82-43 victory over the Maine Black Bears on Sunday afternoon.
Four players scored in double figures including a game-high 21 from Abby Meyers on 9-of-14 shooting. She also added five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Julia Cunningham (14), Maggie Connolly (11) and Grace Stone (11) were the other Tigers in double figures. Ellie Mitchell tied her personal best with six steals in the win.
Maine went 7:50 of game action without scoring a point while the Tigers ran off 21 straight. Princeton stretched its lead to 22 at the intermission, 39-17, after shooting 68.8 percent in the second stanza. Head coach Carla Berube's team forced 14 first half turnovers.
The Tigers put the contest away in the second half with a 24-6 run in the third frame to expand their lead to 40, 65-25, with 3:03 left on the clock. Princeton had at least a 34-point lead the rest of the way.
Princeton held Maine to 38.6 percent shooting, registered 22 points off 24 Maine turnovers and had 12 steals.
Berube's unit heads back on the road to take on No. 25 Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
