It's quickly into ECAC and Ivy League play for the Princeton men's ice hockey team as the Tigers make the trip to Brown and Yale this weekend. Dating back to the end of the 2019-20 season, this weekend's series will mean that six of Princeton's last 13 games have come against either Brown or Yale. This year's team will be looking to flip the results from the end of last year which saw the Tigers swept by both the Bears and Bulldogs.
SERIES INFORMATION VS. BROWN
Princeton and Brown meet for the 186th time as Ivy League and ECAC play open for the Tigers. The series between the two schools has been relatively even since Ron Fogarty took over, with Princeton 6-7-3 against Brown since the 2014-15 season. Brown won both meetings during the 2019-20 season, including a 4-3 win in Providence and a 2-0 win at Baker Rink.
SERIES INFORMATION VS. YALE
Princeton is 109-143-11 all-time in the 263 previous meetings between the two teams. All-time at Yale, Princeton is 32-70-3. Since Ron Fogarty took over as head coach in 2014-15, the Tigers are 6-7-0 against Yale.
TIGERS LOOK TO REBOUND AFTER LOSS IN OPENER AT ARMY
Princeton opened the 2021-22 season with a 4-1 loss at Army, falling short in its first game in 602 days. The potential for rink rust playing a factor was even more apparent as the Tigers were taking on a Black Knights team that had eight games under its belt already this season. Army scored on a flukey bounce of a dump-in from center ice 3:10 into the game and Princeton was forced to play from behind quickly. The shots were ultimately even in the game, Army with a slight 33-32 edge.
WELCOME TO THE SHOW, NOAH!
Freshman Noah de la Durantaye scored the lone goal for Princeton in the opener, scoring his first collegiate goal 10:16 into the second period. His wrister to the top corner came just after a Princeton 4-on-3 power play had expired, and was assisted by Mark Paolini and Adam Robbins. A freshman also scored a goal in his first collegiate game in 2019-20 when Spencer Kersten scored at St. Cloud State.
