Women's Basketball Drops Contest Vs. Seton Hall

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Seton Hall Pirates defeated the Princeton Tigers, 70-60, at Jadwin Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers had three players in double figures highlighted by Abby Meyers' 16 points. Julia Cunningham had 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals while Ellie Mitchell registered her third career double-double with 10 points and a career-best 19 rebounds in the loss. Mitchell's 19 rebounds are the most in a game by a Princeton player since Bella Alarie's 19 caroms in December of 2018 and are tied for the fifth-most in a single-game in program history.

After Princeton held a 21-17 advantage after 10 minutes, Seton Hall used a 13-7 push in the second stanza to take a 30-29 lead with 3:51 left. The two teams exchanged baskets before Seton Hall led 37-35 at the break.

In front by two, Seton Hall ran off 10 straight points, setting the score at 52-40 as the clock read 3:44. Princeton trailed by nine, 54-45, as the fourth quarter got underway and could not get closer than eight the rest of the way.

Head coach Carla Berube's squad is now 6-3 this season. The Tigers outrebounded the Pirates, 48-27. Princeton will welcome Buffalo to Jadwin on Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
