Orlando Magic Sign Devin Cannady ’20 to Two-Way Contract

ORLANDO, Fla. – After originally signing a 10-day contract with the Orlando Magic, Devin Cannady '20 has re-signed with the organization on a two-way deal.
Cannady made the most of his opportunities with Orlando; he had eight points, went two-for-two from beyond the arc and had one block in five against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, April 12. He also added four points in seven minutes against Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday April 11 and scored his first NBA points on Wednesday, April 7, against the Washington Wizards.

"He's embodied everything we talk about with Princeton basketball—you never stop getting better. And Devin has accomplished this through hard work and sheer will. He's never stopped believing in himself and we've never stopped believing in him and all that he can accomplish. We are so proud of him."
Cannady also appeared in two preseason games with the Magic ahead of the 2020-21 season. Against the Atlanta Hawks on December 11, 2020, he scored three points and had one block, one assist and one rebound. Cannady also added three points and one rebound against the Charlotte Hornets on December 19, 2020.
Following his preseason stint with Orlando, he helped lead the Lakeland Magic, Orlando's NBA G League affiliate, to the G League title and became the first undrafted G League Finals MVP. He had a game-high 22 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field and 4-for-9 shooting from three along with six rebounds and four assists in the Magic's 97-78 triumph over the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League Championship Game. On the season he averaged 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game
In Cannady's first season in the NBA G League he played for the Long Island Nets and averaged 14.4, points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He scored a career-high 33 points in a 109-95 win over the Erie BayHawks on December 27, 2019.
Cannady earned a pair of All-Ivy League and All-District honors during his time as a Tiger. He finished as Princeton's fifth-leading all-time scorer with 1,515 points and is the program's leading free throw shooter by percentage, among those with at least 100 attempts, at .896. His 268 made three-pointers rank third all-time in school history while his 81 made three pointers in 2016-17 and 80 made three-pointers in 2016-17 are the fifth and sixth most three-pointers made in a season by a Tiger.
Along with his individual accolades, Cannady was part of the Tigers 2016-17 team that won the Ivy League championship and went 14-0 in conference play.
Cannady is one of nine Princeton men's basketball alumni currently playing professional basketball.
