Women's Lightweight Rowing Set For IRA National Championships

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Princeton women's lightweight team makes the quick trip to Mercer Lake for the IRA Championships on Friday.
"Our boats are ready to race," said head coach Paul Rassam. "This is a special group. Through all the ups and downs of the year, all the uncertainty, they have remained unified and motivated. They have enjoyed the process together and have thoroughly prepared for this opportunity."
The Tigers will race in the V8 event at 10:10 a.m. The 2X boat sprints off the line at 9:30 a.m. You can view the races on the IRA YouTube channel. No fans are allowed at the events.
The women's lightweight V8 has not finished lower than fourth at the IRAs since 2014. Princeton collected consecutive bronze medals in 2017-18 before a silver medal in 2019.
Princeton's 2021 season got underway on Apr. 24 with a 2.6-second victory over Drexel. It followed that with an impressive day at the Dad Vail Regatta, securing a silver and bronze medal. The V8 boat at the Dad Vail Regatta nabbed a silver medal despite being one of only two lightweight boats in the field.
