PRINCETON, N.J. – A mark of 5.60 meters saw Simen Guttormsen of the Princeton University men's track & field team move up to No. 2 all-time on the Tigers' outdoor list after an outstanding performance yesterday in Chula Vista, California.
Guttormsen's mark exceeds the previous No. 2 mark of 5.53 meters set by Adam Bragg '16 at Heps in 2016; he now trails only his brother, Sondre Guttormsen, who holds the program record of 5.81 meters. He topped his previous PR of 5.50 meters set at the Chula Vista High Performance Meet earlier this year.
Along with Guttormsen's outstanding performance, several other members of the men's track & field team have been performing at a high level at meets around the country.
At the Portland Track Festival on Saturday, May 29, Ed Trippas ran a personal-best time of 8:26.25 in the steeplechase. His time would improve upon his college PR of 8:33.90 from the NCAA Regional in 2019, which ranks No. 2 on the Tigers'all-time list behind two-time Olympian Don Cabral '12. Less than a week later at the Music City Track Carnival, which ran from Friday, June 4, until Sunday, June 6, Trippas won the event with a time of 8:30.89.
Anthony Monte and Daniel O'Brien ran in the 5,000 meters at the Music City Track Carnival, posting times of 14:09.52 and 14:30.67. Sam Ellis also ran at the Music City Track Carnival, winning the development section of the 1,500 meters with a personal best time of 3:40.89. Ellis was joined in the development section of the 1,500 by Sebastian Fisher, who finished in a personal-best time of 3:50.03. Cameron Fischer also earned a time of 4:05.90 in the mile.
Ethan Reese and Joe Fast both ran personal bests at the Stumptown Twighlight in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, June 3. Reese clocked in at 1:48.96 and Fast at 3:49.69.
