Amaechi to Compete at NCAA Track & Field Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. – For the third time in her career, senior Obiageri Amaechi of the Princeton University women's track & field team will compete at the NCAA Track & Field Championships.
The Championships will be held from Wednesday, June 9, until Saturday, June 12, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Amaechi will compete in the second flight of the discus on Saturday, June 12 at 5:35 p.m. ET. Out of the 24 throwers, the top nine advance and receive an additional three throws. She will be attending the NCAA Track & Field Championships for the third time in her career.
At the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday, May 29, Amaechi finished fourth with a best throw of 56.54 meters to advance to the NCAA Championships.
Amaechi has accumulated a long list of accolades at Princeton; in 2018 she earned All-America honors in the discus after finishing seventh and holds the school and Ivy League record of 57.95 meters from Heps in 2019. She was the Ivy League Champion in the discus in 2019 and was runner-up in 2018, a year she was also indoor runner-up in the shot put. Amaechi also holds the No. 3 all-time indoor mark in the shot put, 15.66 meters, earned in 2018, and is a two-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honoree.
