Tokyo Olympics: Johnson '17 and U.S. Start Off Fast With Dominating Win Over Japan

TOKYO – Ashleigh Johnson '17 and the United States Women's Water Polo Team dominated Japan, 25-4, during the opening contest of pool play at the Tokyo Olympics.
Japan had the contest tied at 3-all in the first quarter.
Then, the run happened.
How big was the run?
How about 14 straight goals?
The United States did now allow a tally for over 13 minutes of game action as it put the contest out of reach.
Johnson finished with 15 saves before being pulled for the fourth frame.
The United States' 25 goals are the most its scored since a 23-22 shootout victory over the Netherlands at Princeton (Dec. 17) for the 2019 Holiday Cup. Johnson and the U.S. play Monday (1 a.m. ET) vs. China.
