Tokyo Olympics: Hungary Defeats U.S. Women's Water Polo Team, 10-9

TOKYO – Hungary defeated the United States Women's Water Polo Team, 10-9, on Tuesday evening.
The two squads have played each other six times since May, and it showed as neither team led by more than two goals throughout the game.
The United States led by two goals, 8-6, as the fourth quarter got underway, but Hungary scored the next two, tying the contest at 8-all. Melissa Seidemann gave the U.S. a 9-8 lead with 2:28 left, but Hungary responded 35 seconds later. Rebecca Parkes registered the game-winner with 45 seconds remaining.
Ashleigh Johnson '17 collected nine saves in the loss. The United States will take on ROC on Friday at 2:30 a.m. to complete pool play. The quarterfinals of the women's water polo competition begin next Tuesday.
