Tigers Push Unbeaten Streak to Six, Top Rhode Island, 2-0
September 12, 2021 | Women's Soccer
Rookie Tyler McCamey made two saves to pick up her first shutout in her second appearance as a Tiger, adding that to her shutout second half from another win over an Atlantic 10 team, Saint Joseph's, two weekends earlier. The win for Princeton was the team's third over an A-10 program on the new season, along with the win over the Hawks and another win a little more than a week ago at George Mason.
"Today's game took a tremendous amount of patience," Princeton coach Sean Driscoll said. "The team, as always, gave a great effort, but URI was very organized defensively and made it difficult for us in midfield to establish any sort of rhythm. In the second half, we moved the ball better in midfield and created more overloads on the flanks. The key to our success remains the depth of the squad. Every player on this team has the ability to change the game when they step on the field."
That depth led to the 10th and 11th goal scorers for Princeton in the team's six games so far.
In the 67th minute, rookie Alexis Hiltunen finished off a pass along the endline that started with classmate Heather MacNab and saw a redirect from Tatum Gee.

The win completed a week that saw the Tigers beat Rutgers, the No. 9-ranked team in the nation, in Piscataway on Thursday night. Though a new poll is out on Tuesday, another present top-25 team is set to come to Sherrerd Field on Thursday, with 25th-ranked Hofstra visiting. The Pride are already 4-0 against the Ivy on the season, defeating Brown, Penn, Columbia and Yale, and losing only to then-No. 7 Penn State on the road.
