For the first time in 2021, Princeton's men's soccer team ventures out on the road with a trip to Burlington and a match with Vermont on the docket Tuesday afternoon. Kickoff with the Catamounts is set for 4 p.m.
Princeton (0-1-0) is coming off a 1-0 loss to Rutgers in the season opener on Friday night. The Tigers had a 20-12 edge in shots in the game, including a 12-5 advantage in the second half. The lone score of the night came via a Princeton own goal when a Rutgers cross from deep down the left flank was deflected by a sliding Tiger defender and into the goal. Otherwise, the Tigers accounted themselves well in their season debut against a team which already had two matches under its belt.
The overall series between Princeton and Vermont is a short one. The only meeting between the team schools came back in 1988 -- a 4-2 win for Princeton in the Metlife Classic in Piscataway, N.J.
