Meyers Goes Off For Career Day In Women's Basketball's Win Over Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – Abby Meyers went off for a career-high 28 points as the Princeton Tigers were not threatened in a 65-41 victory over the Cornell Big Red at Newman Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Meyers was 11-of-17 from the floor and knocked down five treys while adding seven rebounds. Eight other Tigers scored in the contest including Parker Hill (eight), Chet Nweke (seven) and Adaora Nwokeji (two) setting or tying their season bests in the win.

The Tigers gave up two baskets in the first 10 minutes, jumping ahead 11-5. Meyers outscored the Big Red by herself (seven) in that stretch. Head coach Carla Berube's squad kept the foot on the gas pedal, running off 16 straight points to open the second stanza. The Tigers led by as many as 21 before holding a 34-16 advantage at halftime.

Princeton's lead ballooned to 21 again in the second half as it cruised to its second straight Ivy League victory. The Tigers allowed just 12 baskets overall and forced 21 turnovers.

Berube's team will welcome Towson to Jadwin on Wednesday (6 p.m.) before a trip to Brown (Jan. 15, 4 p.m.) and Penn (Jan. 17, 2 p.m.).
