Chen's Impressive Fourth Quarter Helps Women's Basketball Take Down Towson, 68-54

PRINCETON – The Princeton Tigers used a 12-point fourth quarter from Kaitlyn Chen to take down the Towson Tigers, 68-54, at Jadwin Gym.

Chen registered 14 points, adding a season-best seven helpers along with five rebounds. Abby Meyers dropped in 18 points to pace the Tigers' offense while Julia Cunningham secured 15 points. Parker Hill contributed six rebounds and three blocks in the win.

Towson scored the first basket of the fourth frame to take a 42-41 lead. The Tigers would then rip off 13 straight points to jump ahead, 54-42, as the clock read 5:33. This time, it was Towson to make a run, cutting its deficit to five, 56-51, with three minutes to go. Chen answered with consecutive baskets to push the home squad's lead back to nine and Towson never got within eight the rest of the way.

The Tigers opened the contest with the first six points and 12 of the first 17 before Towson crawled back and trailed 14-11 after 10 minutes. Down by seven, 18-11, Towson used a 12-0 sprint to take its first lead of the game, 23-18, halfway through the second stanza. Princeton countered with eight straight to jump in front, 26-23, with two minutes remaining in the first half. Head coach Carla Berube's team held a 27-25 advantage at halftime.

Aside from Meyers scoring the first basket, neither team led by more than four points in the third frame. The quarter featured five lead changes as Princeton took a 41-40 lead into the fourth session.

Princeton ended Towson's eight game-winning streak to improve to 10-4 overall. Towson falls to 11-2 this season. The Tigers head on the road for a trip to Brown on Saturday (4 p.m.) and Penn on Monday (2 p.m.).
