Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Ivy Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team has swept the Ivy League's weekly awards for the second time in 2022, as announced the conference office Monday afternoon.
Senior Melina Mahood was named Player of the Week, while freshman Lucia Scalamandre was honored as Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season. The duo helped the Tigers earn a 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17) victory over the University of Pennsylvania inside the Palestra on Friday, October 21.
Mahood finished with a match and career-high 24 kills, along with four blocks and two digs. Scalamandre compiled 11 kills on a .458 hitting percentage, along with six blocks and five digs.
Along with the Rookie of the Week honor being Scalamandre's fourth, Mahood's Player of the Week award marks the third time this season a Tiger has earned the accolade, as senior Avery Luoma has received it twice.
The duo, along with the Tigers, are in action next at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, inside Dillon Gymnasium against Harvard (4-12, 3-5).
