Ready for some wrestling as part of your Homecoming weekend?
This year, prior to the Princeton football game against Cornell on Oct. 29, the Tiger wrestlers will hold their annual Orange vs. Black event at Princeton Stadium, a new venue for the event and one that gives Tiger fans a chance to see one of the nation's top wrestling programs.
"Our Orange vs. Black competition has been a great event for Princeton Wrestling fans to start every year, and now we get the chance to bring that to the larger Princeton community that will reunite for Homecoming on October 29," Princeton head coach Chris Ayres said. "We had an outstanding, historic year last season, and with so many guys back this year along with another great incoming class, we're looking forward to showing Princeton fans at Weaver Track on Homecoming Saturday what they can expect to see from us this winter."
The Orange vs. Black competition will begin at 11 a.m. with the football game set to start at 1 p.m. Fans will need a ticket to the Cornell football game to enter Weaver Track, but with the purchase of wrestling season tickets, a ticket to the homecoming football game is free. Season tickets start at just $45 and include all five home duals, with all five in Jadwin Gym for the first time. Princeton will host area rivals in Rutgers (Dec. 11), Rider (Jan. 21) and Lehigh (Feb. 11) with a pair of Ivy League matches against Harvard (Jan. 27) and Brown (Jan. 28).
Princeton qualified six wrestlers to the NCAA Championships last season and all six return this year, including a couple of Princeton history-makers as Patrick Glory and Quincy Monday gave Princeton two finalists in the same year for the first time ever.
The Orange vs. Black competition will put Princeton wrestlers in the same weight class head-to-head just a week before the first event of the season, the Princeton Open tournament in Jadwin Gym on Nov. 6. The season's first dual meet will be less than two weeks after that, with Princeton heading to Indiana on Nov. 18.
