Princeton, N.J. - Coming off a third place, individual finish at Regionals last week, Abby Loveys of the women's cross-country team will compete as an individual at this years' NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Loveys will conclude her senior, cross-country season on Saturday when she races at 9:20 a.m. CST (10:20 EST) in the Women's championship 6k. This will be Loveys first appearance competing at the NCAA Championships.
Other recent, individual cross-country qualifiers for the Tigers include Fiona Max, (2021) Melia Chittenden, (2019) and Gabi Forrest (2017). In 2018, the Tigers qualified as a team and finished 21st.
Loveys' third place finish at Regionals earned her the opportunity to race in Stillwater. That result followed a top-ten finish at this years' Heps and a top-35 finish at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invite.
Loveys has been a consistent, force all season long, and will now get the opportunity to compete among the best of the best on the national stage.
"Abby Loveys is well prepared to represent Princeton University at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships," said head coach Brad Hunt. "She has been magnificently consistent throughout the fall, as her top finishes at the Paul Short Invitational, the Nuttycombe Invitational and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional are all indicators of her ability to compete against the best in the country. Abby had an outstanding summer of training, all in preparation to have an outstanding senior season. She is well on her way to meeting her own elite expectations in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It has been a thrill to watch Abby come into her own this fall, and this weekend will be yet another opportunity for Abby to discover just how great she can be in the orange and black!"
