Men's Basketball Outlasts Marist, 62-55

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Princeton University men's basketball team outlasted Marist, 62-55, Saturday night inside McCann Arena.
Junior Matt Allocco led the Tigers with a team-high 14 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field, and 4-for-6 shooting from three, while also pulling down three rebounds and handing out three assists. Senior Tosan Evbuomwan added 11 points on 5-for-10 shooting, along with a game-high five assists, a team-high five rebounds and two steals. Double-digit scorers for the Tigers were rounded out by senior Ryan Langborg, who finished with 11 points, while freshman Caden Pierce added eight points on 3-for-4 shooting and five rebounds.
Ignited by a Langborg three-pointer with 19:13 on the clock, the Tigers opened the game on a 9-0 run that included a powerful two-handed slam by senior Keeshawn Kellman at 18:25. With 16:07 left in the half, another three-pointer by Langborg sparked a second 9-0 run, giving the Tigers an 18-2 advantage with 14:22 on the clock.
The Tigers remained in control, with a layup by Evbuomwan at 9:23 giving the Tigers a 26-8 lead. Sophomore Blake Peters sank his second three-pointer of the night with 4:55 remaining in the half, putting Princeton ahead 31-12. The Tigers would take a 17-point advantage into halftime, 36-19.
Princeton extended its lead to 19, 41-22, after a three-pointer by Allocco at 17:53, then with 15:08 on the clock freshman Deven Austin drove the lane and threw down an emphatic one-handed dunk, making it 43-27.
A second half push by the Red Foxes saw the deficit reduced to three points; with 8:09 left in the half, Marist went on a 9-0 run, making it 47-44 at 6:43. A step-back three-pointer by Allocco with 6:19 remaining halted Marist's run, and made it a 50-44 contest.
Allocco's fourth three-pointer of the night put the Tigers ahead, 53-46, with 5:02 remaining but the Red Foxes made it a two-point game, 53-51, with 3:17 on the clock.
Clutch free throw shooting by Allocco and Austin kept Princeton ahead, 60-55, with 0:23 remaining, and the Tigers would hold on for the 62-55 victory.
