No. 9 Men's Water Polo Welcomes No. 16 Fordham For Opening Round of NCAA Tournament

PRINCETON – The No. 9 Men's Water Polo Team welcomes the No. 16 Fordham Rams to DeNunzio Pool for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday (12 p.m.).
The winner will advance to the third opening-round game against Southern California (18-6), with the winner advancing to the championship bracket to play UCLA (22-4) at California. In the second opening-round game, Pacific (21-6) will play UC Davis (19-7), with the winner advancing to the championship bracket to play California (21-2).
Princeton and Fordham have already met at DeNunzio once this season, providing a thriller in September.
The two squads exchanged goals, tying the game at 6-all at the break. Even at eight, Fordham scored the last two goals of the third stanza. Pierce Maloney quickly scored on consecutive possessions to begin the final eight minutes to tie the game for an eighth time. Luke Johnston put Princeton in front, but Fordham answered about 90 seconds later. Roko Pozaric secured the game-winner with 1:17 to go.
The two teams met in the 2021 NCAA Tournament with Princeton earning a 17-8 at home, the program's first NCAA win since 2011.
3: Princeton had three first-team all-conference selections in Pozaric, Keller Maloney and Antonio Knez, marking the first time Princeton has had three first-team all-conference honorees since 2017. Pozaric led the team in goals (59) and sprint wins (85). Maloney paced the Tigers in scoring (99). Knez was 13-3 this season with a .546 save percentage.
10: Head coach Dustin Litvak's squad has 10 20+ goal scorers this season, giving the team 384 goals, second most all-time. Pozaric (59), K. Maloney (51), Yurian Quinones (39), George Caras (35), Vladan Mitrovic (27), JP Ohl (24), Ryan Neapole (24), Pierce Maloney (23) and Luke Johnston (22) all have at least 20 tallies for the Tigers.
12: The Tigers currently sit with a 12-game winning streak and haven't lost since Oct. 18 at No. 10 Pepperdine. One more victory would tie the program record and also set a Princeton record with 27 overall.
60: With one goals, Pozaric will become the sixth player in program history to reach 60 goals twice. Pozaric contributed 68 tallies as a freshman and sits with 59 now. He has 96 points overall, corralling 37 helpers as well. He trails only Keller Maloney (99 points) for the team lead in points.
