Women's Basketball Uses Four in Double Figures To Drop Towson, 71-54

TOWSON – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team had four players in double figures as they took down the Towson Tigers, 71-54, at the SECU Arena.
Julia Cunningham paced the Tigers with 13 points while Grace Stone (12), Madison St. Rose (12) and Kaitlyn Chen (11) also registered double digits in the win. St. Rose had a season high while Ellie Mitchell added 12 rebounds.
It was the first time a Princeton opponent had not knocked down a three-pointer in a game since Dec. 29, 2019 vs. New Hampshire. Head coach Carla Berube's unit held Towson to 16 baskets and 32 percent shooting.
After Towson scored the first two baskets of the game, Princeton ran off an 18-4 stretch led by Cunningham's seven points. Princeton held a 20-13 advantage after 10 minutes.
In front by five, 24-19, the Tigers used a 15-3 push to take their largest lead of the contest, 39-22, with 65 seconds remaining in the first half. The road squad went into halftime with a 43-26 advantage.
Towson began the second half with six consecutive points, but a trey from St. Rose and layup from Stone stemmed the tide. Towson did not get within 12 the rest of the frame.
The home team made one more run at Princeton with eight straight to cut the deficit to eight, 55-47, with 6:28 to go. Stone scored six points over the next three and half minutes while Princeton's defense allowed no baskets over the final 3:45 of game action to secure the victory.
Princeton improves 5-2 overall while Towson falls to 4-4 this season. The Tigers head to No. 6 Connecticut on Thursday night. That game can be seen on SNY with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
