Sarah Fillier '24, Claire Thompson '20 and Canada will be playing for a medal at the 2022 Olympic Games, clinching a spot in a medal game after an 11-0 win over Sweden on Friday morning (ET) in Beijing.
Canada will face either Switzerland in a semifinal on Sunday at 11:10 p.m. ET.
Fillier had three goals in the game, scoring goals 36 seconds apart with less than three minutes to go in the first period to give Canada a 3-0 lead. Fillier's third goal was Canada's last of the game, coming with just less than eight minutes to play in the third for her first hat trick as an Olympian.
Thompson had assists on Canada's fourth, sixth and 10th goals, with one in each period.
Now with eight goals, Fillier co-leads the Olympics in goals scored, and with nine points, Claire Thompson '20 leads the Games in points by a defensemen and in plus-minus for all players, at +14.
Thompson's nine points moved her past Thérèse Brisson, who had seven in 1998, for the most points by a Canadian defenseman in a single Olympics. Fillier is one off the record for goals in a single Games held by Meghan Agosta (CAN, 2010) and Stefanie Marty (SUI, 2010) at nine.
