Men’s Track and Field Sets Two Ivy Records in Stellar Performance

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's track and field team put up some astounding marks at the Tyson Invitational, as well as the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Starting with the Tyson Invitational, Ibrahim Ayorinde set a new school record in the 200 meters. His time of 21.18 surpasses Daniel Duncan's mark of 21.26 set this year.
Sondre Guttormsen set a new Ivy League record in the pole vault, leaping a distance of 5.82 meters. The new mark is also a Norwegian National record.
In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Michael Phillippy, Greg Sholars, Andersen Dimon, William Doyle recorded a time of 3:10.78, good for second all-time in school history.
Some other notable marks include a new personal best for Jeff Hollis in the high jump (2.16 m) as well as for CJ Licata in the shotput (19.75 m).
Moving to the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Sam Ellis set a new Ivy League record in the mile with a time of 3:56.87.
Kevin Berry set a new school record in the 5,000 meters, going 13:42.71, eclipsing Donn Cabral for the top spot in program history.
In the 3,000 meters, Ed Trippas moves into second all-time in school history with a mark of 7:55.23. Meanwhile, with a time of 1:49.35 in the 800 meters, Ethan Reese finds himself fifth all-time in school history.
Next up: The Tigers will return home to host the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, February 20th at 10:30 a.m.
