
No. 22 Penn Holds Off No. 19 Princeton

Princeton opened with a win from No. 2-ranked Patrick Glory at 125, his 36th consecutive win between the last two seasons, as Glory used three first-period takedowns to hold a 6-2 lead after a period on the way to a 12-2 major-decision win that gave Princeton a 4-0 lead in the match.

Penn responded with wins at the next three weights to pull in front, 10-4. At 133, No. 14 Michael Colaiocco had an early takedown on Princeton's Nick Kayal and led 5-3 after a period in a high-scoring match that saw Colaiocco hold off Kayal 15-11. Colaiocco led 9-5 headed to the third on the way to the win.
At 141, No. 15 CJ Composto used a first-period takedown and a four-point near fall to build a 6-0 lead on the way to a 17-4 major-decision win, but the bout at 149 went extra time. Leonard Merkin, competing for the first time this season for the Tigers, had two first-period takedowns to lead 4-2 after the first three minutes, but Penn's Carmen Ferrante kept Merkin from adding to the lead and rallied on a second-period escape and accumulation of riding time to tie it at 4-4 at the end of three periods. A takedown in extra time delivered the match to Ferrante, putting Penn ahead 10-4.
No. 7 Quincy Monday ended the Penn run at 157, scoring all three of his points in the final period to defeat No. 21 Doug Zapf 3-1. Monday tied it with an escape in the third and then had a takedown in the closing seconds to wrap up the win and pull Princeton within 10-7 halfway through the match.

Penn added back-to-back wins at 165 and 174 to grow its lead to 17-7. No. 22 Lucas Revano had a 12-4 win for the Quakers at 165 over Jake Marsh, using two first-period takedowns and a refersal to build a 6-2 lead three minutes in, putting the win into bonus-point range with four unanswered points in the third. At 174, No. 20 Nick Incontrera held a 4-2 lead entering the third, and three takedowns in the final frame along with the riding-time point allowed Incontrera to pull away against Nate Dugan.
Princeton's final two wins of the day came at 184 and 197. At 184, No. 23 Travis Stefanik was an 8-4 winner over Neil Antrassian, getting three takedowns and a reversal over the course of the match with two of the takedowns coming in the opening period as Stefanik took a 4-2 lead.

No. 20 Luke Stout followed suit for the Tigers at 197, getting three first-period takedowns to lead Cole Urbas 6-2 three minutes in, but Urbas kept Stout from adding to that in the second period while getting his own four-point near-fall to tie it at 6-6 headed to the third. Three third-period takedowns helped Stout reopen a lead on the way to the 13-9 win as Princeton cut the deficit to 17-13 entering the final match.

Matt Cover needed a bonus-point win at heavyweight, but No. 31 Ben Goldin instead got two first-period takedowns on the way to a 10-4 win as Goldin avoided takedowns in the match and saw Cover score his four points on escapes.
Prior to the match, Princeton recognized its four team members graduating from the program in Merkin, a graduate student who finished his undergraduate degree last spring, and seniors Kendall Elfstrum, Jonathan Gomez and Josh Breeding.
Princeton's dual-match finale will send the Tigers to No. 15 Rutgers on Friday.
