Women's Basketball Clinches Ivy Madness Spot; Blitzes Brown, 88-42

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers shot 61 percent in the second half to blitz the Brown Bears, 88-42, at Jadwin Gym on Friday evening. With the win, Princeton clinched a berth into the Ivy League Tournament.

Abby Meyers scored 25 points on an impressive 11-of-16 shooting in just 24 minutes, adding four steals and four helpers. Julia Cunningham posted her third career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Maddie Plank dropped in 14 points, a career high off the bench, in the win.

Tied at 23-all with three minutes left in the first half, the Tigers used a 9-2 push to take a 32-25 lead into halftime. Head coach Carla Berube's unit pitched a shutout over the first five minutes of the second half, stretching its advantage to 25, 50-25. The Tigers would go on to take a 33-point lead into the fourth frame and cruised from there.

In the third quarter, Princeton outscored Brown, 32-6, behind 11-of-16 from the floor (68.8 percent) including five triples. Brown had three baskets total in that stretch, marking the 33rd time that the Tigers allowed 10 points or less in a stanza this season.

Berube's team forced 21 steals, one shy of the program record. The home squad also had 25 assists on 34 baskets and made 10 three-pointers.

The Tigers improved to 18-4 overall and 10-0 in the Ivy League. Brown dropped to 6-17 this season and 1-10 in the conference. Princeton welcomes Yale to Jadwin Gym tomorrow. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
