McQuigge Leads Four Tigers Earning All-Ivy Recognition
March 03, 2022 | Women's Ice Hockey
Rachel McQuigge is one of 12 semifinalists for the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association's Goalie of the Year, is in contention to set a program record, and now is a first-team All-Ivy League honoree.
McQuigge, a senior, was the league's coaches' choice for the first-team goalie, while juniors Maggie Connors, a forward, and Mariah Keopple, a blueliner, were second-team picks. Senior Sharon Frankel was the team's Academic All-Ivy honoree, with each program earning one selection.
McQuigge was a second-team pick in 2020 and an honorable mention in 2019. McQuigge is coming off a series in which she made 103 saves on 109 shots across three games as Princeton became the first eighth seed since ECAC Hockey's best-of-three quarterfinal format began in 2002 to defeat a number-one seed. For the season, McQuigge has a 1.87 GAA and a .939 save percentage, which would be the second-best season-long save percentage behind only the .950 that former teammate Stephanie Neatby '20 posted as a rookie in 2016-17.
Connors, a first-team All-Ivy honoree in 2019 and a second-teamer in 2020, leads the team with 13 goals and 21 points. Seven of those goals and nine of those points came against Ivy League opponents.
Keopple, in addition to helping hold opponents to an average of less than two goals per game, has scored two goals and added five assists this season, with four of those assists coming against Ivy opponents.
Frankel, a forward who has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points this season, leads the nation with 614 faceoff wins and with no other player in the nation having reached 500 wins at the dot. An economics major, Frankel has earned three ECAC All-Academic awards in her previous three seasons, including as Princeton's representative on the Commissioner's List for having the team's top GPA in the 2019-20 season.
Princeton will head to Yale for Friday's ECAC Hockey tournament semifinal as the Tigers look to make the final for the second straight competitive season.
