Laudenslager Fans 11, Chang Homers as Tigers Win Series at Harvard
March 27, 2022 | Softball
Adrienne Chang homered in the top of the first, Alexis Laudenslager had a career-high 11 strikeouts in the complete-game effort, and the Princeton softball team was a 5-1 winner at Harvard to take the weekend series on Sunday.
The Tigers now stand 5-1 in Ivy League play, even with Columbia at the top of the league. Princeton will resume Ivy play next weekend at home against Dartmouth.
In the series finale against Harvard, Princeton started quickly, getting a leadoff single from Serena Starks two batters before Chang hammered a home run to left field, putting Princeton up 2-0.
That's where it stood until the fifth inning, when Harvard got one back on a Lauren Bobowski base hit two batters after Kaitlin Lampson reached on an error, making it 2-1.
Princeton got that run right back and more, sending seven batters to the plate in the top of the sixth with all seven putting the ball in play. Along with a Chang base hit to start the inning, Princeton took advantage of three Harvard errors in the inning to push the lead to 5-1, with Lauren Sablone and Ali Blanchard each getting an RBI during the stretch.
Harvard had two singles in the sixth and a hit batter in the seventh, but none got past second base as Laudenslager shut the door with her 11th strikeout of the day as the final out.Â
Laudenslager, a junior, reset her career strikeout best for the second time in three outings, fanning 10 during her no-hitter against Brown a week earlier.Â
