Four in Semis as Tigers Send Nine to Sunday at EIWAs
March 05, 2022 | Wrestling
Setting a Chris Ayres-era best with nine wrestlers advancing to Sunday's day two at the EIWA Championships at Cornell, the Princeton wrestling team stands in third place and has four semifinalists heading into the event's final day.
Brackets are available here and FloWrestling is streaming the event here. Sunday's first session will start at 10 a.m. The final session will start at 3 p.m.
Patrick Glory at 125, Quincy Monday at 157, Travis Stefanik at 184 and Luke Stout at 197 all went 2-0 on Saturday to make the semis, and Nick Kayal (133), Danny Coles (141), Marshall Keller (149), Nate Dugan (174) and Matt Cover (HWT) all worked their way through the consolation draw to advance in the tournament.
Princeton's previous best for day-two wrestlers in the Ayres era, which began with the 2006-07 season, was eight, achieved in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Cornell leads heading into day two with 94.5 points and eight wrestlers in the championship draw and one in the consolation. Penn stands second at 86.5 with eight in the championship draws and two in the consolation, and Princeton is third at 69 points with four in the championship draws and five in the consolation.
