No. 12 Women's Lacrosse Falls To No. 8 Maryland

PRINCETON – No. 12 Princeton had an early lead on visiting No. 8 Maryland, but the Terps responded to take a lead at halftime and never look back at Class of 1952 Stadium.

How It Happened
The Tigers were quick off the opening draw, scoring the game's first three goals to build a 3-0 lead just 4:02 into the game. Kate Mulham scored first, putting together a tremendous hitch dodge to blow by a defender and score 1:16 into the game.
Grace Tauckus followed up with a goal 2:08 later, and McKenzie Blake netted Princeton's third of the game 0:38 after that – each goal assisted by Kyla Sears.
The Terrapins would tie the game at 3-3 by the end of the first quarter, including two goals in the final 0:21. Aurora Cordingley had the assist on Eloise Clevenger's goal to make it 3-2, and then Cordingley beat the buzzer to level things up after 15:00.
The two sides went back and forth in the opening minutes of the second quarter, each side scoring twice. Mulham again opened a quarter with a goal, scoring 0:32 in, and Sears netted a free position with 9:10 left in the half to knot the game at 5-5.
From there, it was all Terps the rest of the second quarter. Maryland scored four times over the final 8:21 to take a 9-5 lead into halftime.
It was more back-and-forth in the third quarter, as the two teams traded goals over the first 9:55. The Tigers were never able to get a run going, Maryland answering each time Princeton got within four. Mulham had two of Princeton's goals in the third quarter, each a carbon copy of each other in terms of being strong shots on the run from the top of the arc. Nina Montes had a goal as well, firing a riser on the fly to make it 12-8.
After Montes scored, the Terps got the next two, scoring twice in 0:46 to take a 14-8 lead.
Kate Mulham scored her fifth of the game with 14.5 seconds left in the third quarter to make the score 14-9, and Sam Fish would follow with two saves in the final four seconds of the period.
The Terps extended their lead in the fourth quarter, scoring the final five goals to build a 19-9 lead.
The Tigers return to Ivy action on Saturday, hosting Dartmouth at noon as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.

- Kyla Sears had two assists, moving into a tie for No. 3 all-time by a Tiger with 81, She is 11 away from taking over the top spot.
- Aurora Cordingley had five goals and two assists for a game-high seven points; Hannah Leubecker also had five goals for Maryland.
