Men's Lightweight Rowing Hosts Cornell Saturday On Lake Carnegie

Princeton's No. 4-ranked men's lightweight rowing team hosts a crucial Ivy League race on Saturday, competing for the Platt Cup alongside No. 3 Cornell on Lake Carnegie.

The Tigers enter with momentum, owning wins in their last four outings and a 5-1 record overall. Princeton is 2-1 in rivalry Cup races this season, winning their last two over No. 5 Georgetown and No. 7 Columbia. The Tigers' only loss this season came in the spring debut at then-No. 1 Navy.
First contested in 1964, the Platt Cup is named after Phillip L. Platt '60. The all-time series stands at 38-18 in favor of the Tigers, but is an even 6-6 over the last dozen races.
Cornell won the last meeting between the two teams, a meeting of two unbeaten crews on Lake Cayuga. The Tigers have won the last two Platt Cup races on Lake Carnegie, claiming victory in 2016 and 2018.
The Big Red are 2-0 this spring, most recently defeating Penn by 4.5 seconds in Ithaca.
