No. 6 Men’s Track and Field Sets New Discus Record at the Sam Howell Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's track and field team had another remarkable day of competition, highlighted by Robbie Otal setting a new school record in the discus with a throw of 61.71 meters.
In the 10,000 meters, six tigers placed in the top six: Kevin Berry (28:55.31), Anthony Monte (28:56.38), Matt Grossman (28:56.68), Josh Zelek (29:05.99), Matthew Farrell (29:20.88) and Jakob Kintzele (29:34.74).
Berry's mark moves him into second all-time in school history, Monte's mark moves him into third all-time, Grossman's mark moves him into fourth all-time, and Zelek's mark moves him into eighth all-time.
In the 100 meters, Michael Phillippy (10.86) placed third, followed by Ladislav Topfer (10.89) in fourth. Phillippy and Topfer raced in the 200 meters as well, with Michael Phillippy (21.30) crossing the finishing line in first, and Ladislav Topfer (21.60) taking fourth.
Taraje Whitfield (14.51) and Jovan Aigbekaen (14.60) finished one-two in the 110-meter hurdles. Meanwhile, Chris Paige (55.32) took third in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the 800 meters, Kieran McDermott (1:53.58) finished seventh, while Jack Kenkel (1:55.23) and Scott Thompson (1:56.32) finished 11th and 14th respectively.
In the 1500 meters Joe Fast (3:54.49) placed 12th, Connor Chen (3:56.82) placed 16th, Sebastian Fisher (4:00.79) placed 21st and Scott Thompson (4:03.07) placed 22nd.
Other competitors in the discus include CJ Licata (53.35 m) finishing second, Avery Shunneson (47.51 m) finishing fourth, Tyler Konopka (45.79 m) finishing fifth and Andrei Iosivas (38.66 m) finishing eighth.
Wrapping up the throws, Zach Jaramillo (54.25 m) placed second in the Javelin, Tyler Konopka (15.86 m) and Andrei Iosivas (12.77 m) took third and fifth respectively in the shot put and William Cauley (58.22 m) and Paul Brennan (57.32 m) went one-two in the hammer throw.
Ilay Furman earned first place in the triple jump with a leap of 14.35 meters.
Up next: The Tigers will travel to Fairfax, Virginia to compete in the Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 9th.
