Sekulic Secures CWPA Rookie of the Year; Three Earn All-Conference Honors For Women's Water Polo

PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton women's water polo team collected three all-conference players while Jovana Sekulic was selected as Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Rookie of the Year, the conference announced today.
Sekulic had an outstanding rookie campaign, also earning first-team accolades, with 75 goals, 71 drawn ejections, 32 steals and nine assists. Her 75 tallies are tied for seventh most in a single season in program history. The freshman put up a goal in all but one appearance this season, adding 14 hat tricks and 21 multi-goal performances. Sekulic's season-bests include six goals vs. No. 21 California Baptist (Jan. 21) and nine drawn ejections at No. 21 San Diego State (Mar. 6). She is the third Princeton athlete to win CWPA Rookie of the Year (Megan Donahue, 2003 and Ashleigh Johnson, 2013).
Laura Larkin secured second-team all-conference honors after posting 28 goals, 21 steals, 20 assists and 13 drawn ejections. The senior had two hat tricks and seven multi-assist outings. Some of her top contributions include a four-point, three steal game at No. 19 Harvard (Apr. 9) and a hat trick at Brown (Apr. 9).
Kayla Yelensky also secured a fantastic rookie season, adding 55 tallies, 37 helpers, 35 drawn ejections and 31 steals. The freshman had 10 hat tricks, 18 multi-goal games, and 11 multi-assist contests. Yelensky's top performances include three four-goal outings and a five-assist game vs. Biola (Mar. 11).
Princeton went 21-10 in 2022, placing third in the CWPA. The Tigers recorded eight wins over top-25 teams and posted at least 20 victories for the fourth straight full season.
