Baseball Falls to Columbia in Series Finale
April 03, 2022 | Baseball
New York, N.Y. — Princeton's had no trouble putting balls into play, but couldn't match Columbia's efficiency on a rainy Sunday afternoon which saw the Lions take a 15-2 victory.
Seven different Tigers tallied a hit in the series finale and Noah Granet (3), Matt Scannell (3), Brendan Cumming (2), and Jackson Emus (2) registered multiple hits.
Andrew D'Alessio earned his fourth start of the season and went 6.0 innings with four strikeouts and just one earned run allowed. Reece Rabin tossed a clean sheet in his lone frame pitched.
Columbia got ahead early with a run in four of the first five innings for a 6-0 lead through the game's halfway point.
Princeton got on the board in the top of the sixth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Jordan Kelly, but a Columbia run in the bottom of the inning restored its six-run advantage.
The Tigers tallied another run from an RBI single by Scannell, but once again the Lions responded with an 8-run inning in the bottom of the seventh to seal a 15-2 victory.
Princeton returns to action at Clarke Field next weekend as it welcomes Cornell for a three-game set starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 9 at 11:30 a.m.
