No. 19 Women’s Water Polo Splits Sunday Doubleheader

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 19 Princeton University women's water polo team went 1-1 in their Sunday matchups, defeating Mount St. Mary's 14-6 while falling to No. 7 Michigan 16-11.
Mount St. Mary's
Two goals from Jovana Sekulic put the Tigers up 2-1 early in the first quarter and Princeton would hold a 3-1 lead after one. Kate Mallery would open the scoring in the second, giving the Tigers a three-goal advantage at 5-2. The orange and black managed one more tally in the second, but the Mountaineers would score three in the second frame to make it a one score game going into halftime.
The Tigers would find their groove in the second half, scoring four goals in each of the last two quarters while limiting Mount St. Mary's to just one goal. Despite being tested in the first half, the Tigers would cruise to a 14-6 victory.

Michigan
Goals from Jovana Sekulic and Nicole Kresich put the Tigers ahead 2-1 early in the first quarter, before the Wolverines rattled off four goals in a row to take a 5-2 lead. Princeton would cut the deficit to two, but Michigan would take an 8-5 advantage into halftime.
Kayla Yelensky would open up the second half with a goal, pulling the Tigers within two. Princeton would not get any closer than that the rest of the way, as Michigan went on to win 16-11.

The Tigers will be on the road for the last weekend of regular season action, with matchups against Harvard and Michigan on Saturday, April 10th and Brown on Sunday, April 11th.
