Strong First Day Puts Tigers in Front at Princeton Invite

With the top four spots on the player leaderboard filled by Tigers, the Princeton men's golf team also holds the first two places at the Princeton Invitational heading into Sunday's final round at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton.

Princeton entered two teams in its home invite, a Princeton Black and Princeton Orange lineup, and Princeton Black at -9, a stroke ahead of Princeton Orange at -8. Seton Hall is in third at -2 as the only other team under par 36 holes in.

Two Tigers had eagles on the first day, both part of the Princeton Black lineup, with Henry Dubiel holing out in three on the par-five fourth hole and Connor Belcastro making the par-four 14th hole in two.

William Huang (Princeton Orange) leads in the pursuit of medalist honors as the only player to break 70 in each of the first two rounds, carding a tournament-low 67 in the opening round before following that with a 68 to stand at -7, four strokes in front of fellow Tigers Jake Mayer (Princeton Orange), Sam Clayman (Princeton Black) and Max Holm (Princeton Black) at -3.

If results hold and Princeton wins the team title, it would be the program's first at its home tournament since 2004, and if a Tiger wins medalist honors, he'd be the first since John Sawin '07 in 2007 to do so at the Princeton Invitational.
