Samara Named Coach of the Year, Men’s Track & Field Tallies 17 All-Ivy Selections

PRINCETON, N.J. – After leading the Princeton University men's track and field team to their 21st Outdoor Ivy League Championship and completing the triple crown for the tenth time in school history, Fred Samara has once again been named Ivy League coach of the year. It is the 12th iteration of the award, and 10th time that Samara has received the honor. Samara was also the coach of the year nominee during the indoor season.

The Tigers collected another major award, with Daniel Duncan being nominated as the Most Outstanding Track Performer of the meet. Along with being part of the 4x100 meter championship, Duncan secured titles in both the 100 and 200 meters. He was also named first team All-Ivy in all three events.

Additionally, with a mark of 10.17 in the 100 meters, Duncan set new Ivy League, Princeton, and Heps meet records.

A first team All-Ivy League nominee in the 400 meters, Michael Phillippy set a new school and Heps meet record with a time of 45.93.

Chris Paige collected first team All-Ivy League honors in the 400-meter hurdles, placing first in the event.

Sam Rodman took first place in the 800 meters, earning first team All-Ivy League honors.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Ed Trippas received first team All-Ivy league honors after being the first to cross the finish line.

A first team All-Ivy League selection in the long jump, Aviram Shwarzbard recorded the farthest distance of any other competitor in the event.

A first team All-Ivy League nominee in the pole vault during the indoor season, Sondre Guttormsen secured repeat honors for outdoor.

C.J. Licata, a three-time indoor shot-put champion, earned first team All-Ivy League honors after claiming a shot-put title in outdoor. Licata was also named to the 2022 Academic All-Ivy League team.

After out leaping each participant in the high jump, Jeffrey Hollis was honored with a first team All-Ivy League selection.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the quartet of Simang'aliso Ndhlovu, Kaden Reynolds, Daniel Duncan, and Greg Sholars earned a first-place finish and set a new Outdoor Heps meet record of 40.11.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Ladislav Topfer, William Doyle, Andersen Dimon and Michael Phillippy were the first to cross the finish line, setting a new Outdoor Heps meet record of 3:07.61.

Finishing second in the 100-meters, Simang'aliso Ndhlovu earned second team All-Ivy League honors. Additionally, Ndhlovu's time of 10.29 moves him into third all-time in school history.

Chandler Ault delivered a new school record of 72.47 meters in the javelin, placing second and receiving second team All-Ivy League honors for his efforts.

In the discus, Robbie Otal claimed second team All-Ivy League honors after finishing second with a school record distance of 62.77 meters.

A second team All-Ivy League nominee in the pole vault during the indoor season, Simen Guttormsen secured repeat honors for outdoor.

The 4x800 meter relay squad of Duncan Miller, Harrison Witt, Sam Rodman, Sam Ellis placed second in the event, earning second team All-Ivy League honors as a result.
