Eleven Home Games Highlight Strong '22 Schedule for Women's Soccer Team
May 24, 2022 | Women's Soccer
Eleven home games, and six overall games against fellow NCAA tournament teams from last season, highlight the 2022 Princeton women's soccer schedule set to begin with a two-match home weekend in late August.
"As we wait in anticipation of the opening of the new Roberts Stadium and Myslik Field, which we believe will be one of the nicest venues in college soccer, we are excited to reveal our fall schedule," Princeton coach Sean Driscoll said. "This year we will face teams from the SEC, Big Ten, CAA, Patriot League, Atlantic 10 and MAAC in addition to the usual gauntlet of the Ivy League. I would like to, once again, thank associate head coach Mike Poller for his efforts in putting together a challenging schedule for our program. After a memorable fall 2021, we could not be more eager to get the team back together and represent our alums, fans and the Princeton community on the field."
Notes on the 2022 schedule:
• The slate of 11 home games begins August 26 with a visit from Colgate and continues that weekend with an August 28 visit from Fairfield.
• Princeton will host 2021 NCAA semifinalist Rutgers on Sept. 4.Â
• LSU will visit on Sept. 8 in what will be Princeton's first game against an opponent from the SEC at the time of the game.Â
• The Ivy League season will begin Sept. 24 at Yale with the first home Ivy game on Oct. 1 against Dartmouth.
• Princeton will have six opponents who made the NCAA tournament, including Rutgers, LSU, Hofstra (Sept. 15, away), Bucknell (Sept. 27, away), Harvard (Oct. 22, home) and Brown (Oct. 8, home).
• Princeton's 11 regular-season home games are tied for the most in program history, along with the 2015 season.
Princeton made the second round of the NCAA tournament last spring and returns nine of the 14 players who scored goals last season as the team outscored opponents 43-15.
