Eight NCAA Tourney Teams, Smashville Showcase on Slate for 22-23 Season
July 20, 2022 | Women's Ice Hockey
2022-23 Schedule
Battle tested and ready for the moment. That's what Princeton will be at the end of the 2022-23 season as the Tigers are set to embark on a slate which includes eight of the 11 teams which competed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
Speaking of battle tested and prepared for big moments, Princeton will enter the 2022-23 season bolstered by the return of 2022 Olympic gold medalist Sarah Fillier. In the two years since she last competed for the Tigers, Fillier won a World Championship and Olympic gold for Canada -- alongside former Princeton teammate Claire Thompson '20 -- and has established herself as one of the premier talents in all of women's ice hockey. She tallied eight goals and 11 points in Beijing this past winter en route to a gold medal and is back to take care of some unfinished business on the ice for Princeton. A two-time AHCA All-American and the 2019 national Rookie of the Year, Fillier has twice been among the 10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Award presented to the national player of the year.
She will not be alone when the Tigers take the ice in October. Princeton returns 12 players who accounted for 48 goals last season, including All-Ivy League selection Maggie Connors who had a team-high 13 goals and 22 points in 21-22 as well as Annie Kuehl who was second on the team with 10 goals.
The 2021-22 season saw a young Princeton squad at its best when it mattered most. The Tigers went to Cambridge and knocked off No. 1 seed Harvard in three games in the first round of the ECAC Playoffs -- the first time in ECAC history that an eight-seed toppled a top-seed.
This season is a special one for the Princeton Hockey programs as it is the 100th year of beloved Hobey Baker Rink. Including an exhibition game on Oct. 9 against the University of Montreal, the Tigers will skate 14 times on home ice, starting the regular season with a pair of games against Colgate and Cornell October 28-29 and concluding with the home regular season finale against Rensselaer on February 11. Throughout the season, Princeton Hockey will commemorate the centennial year of its home rink. In addition to giveaways, a new center-ice logo, historical retrospectives and more surprises along the way, the men's and women's programs will gather as one Princeton Hockey community the weekend of January 6-7 for a pair of doubleheaders as part of the official 100 Years of Hobey Baker Rink celebration.
New and returning season-ticket plans will go on sale July 12 while group tickets and mini-plans will go on sale Sept. 20 with single-game tickets available beginning Oct. 4. Visit GoPrincetonTigers.com/tickets or call 609-258-4TIX (4849) to order.
