June 04, 2022 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
WEST WINDSOR – The Princeton women's lightweight rowing team will have all three boats racing for medals tomorrow after a fantastic showing on Saturday on Mercer Lake.
The 2x pair of Amelia Boehle and Kasey Shashaty had no issues in their heat, racing out to open water early and not letting up. They took the top time of 7:41.85, over 18 seconds in front of Wisconsin. The Princeton duo had the top time in the two heats with Boston University, last year's winner, coming at 7:42.35 in front of Radcliffe (7:43.43).
Princeton's varsity eight collected the top time in its race for lanes (6:42.03), 1.4 seconds ahead of Georgetown and 2.9 seconds in front of Stanford (6:45.00). The Cardinal held the lead at 1,000m mark, but the Tigers charged ahead by a bow with 500m to go, before stretching its advantage and crossing the finish line ahead of everyone.
Varsity four secured second place in its race for lanes (7:37.81), trailing Radcliffe (7:32.45).
Grand Finals get underway Sunday with the 2X going off at 8:10 a.m. The varsity four races right after 8:20 a.m. The varsity eight goes for back-to-back national crowns at 10:10 a.m.
