Ryan Schwieger ’21 Signs Pro Contract With Rasta Vechta

PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton University men's basketball team alumni Ryan Schiweger '21 has signed his first professional contact with Rasta Vechta, of the German ProA League.
Rasta Vechta is based in Vechta, Lower Saxony, Germany, and Schwieger will follow in the footsteps of T.J. Bray '14, who also played for the club.
Schwieger was a two-time Ivy League Player of the Week at Princeton, and accumulated 483 points, 168 rebounds, and 101 assists in two seasons along with a shortened 2019-20 season. In 2019-20, he led the Tigers in assists with 2.6 per game and was the team's third-leading scorer, averaging 10.7 points, shooting 45.7% from the field, 37.3% from three, and 88.1% from the free throw line. On Saturday, January 4, 2020, Schwieger erupted for a career-high 27 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the field in a 78-64 triumph over the University of Pennsylvania at the Palestra.
In 2018-19, he had seven double-figure scoring games that all took place after the January finals break, and shot 57.8% from the field and 55.0% from three over his last four games of the season in late February and early March. Schwieger concluded his college career with a grad year Loyola University Chicago, where he averaged 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.
Schwieger joins Devin Cannady '20 (Orlando Magic), Richmond Aririguzoh '20 (Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen), Myles Stephens '19 (Kangoeroes Mechelen), Amir Bell '18 (Brose Bamberg), Spencer Weisz '17 (Hapoel Haifa), Henry Caruso '17 (Donar Groningen), and Ian Hummer '13 (AEK Athens) as Princeton alumni playing professional basketball.
