William Huang Edged In Playoff At NJ Amateur

Rising sophomore William Huang roared back on the final day of the 121st NJ Amateur Championship presented by Provident Bank, carding a pair of 68s over the two rounds held on Wednesday to force a playoff before ultimately coming up just short against William Celiberti -- a rising senior at Maryland.
Huang, the 2022 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and a second-team All-Ivy performer last season, carded a 73-72-68-68--281 to finish -7 for the four rounds. He stormed his way hom on the back nine, carding three birdies over the final nine holes -- including a final birdie at the last -- to get into the playoff.
"I was just out there and playing my own game," Huang reflected. "The golf course doesn't change, regardless of whether he's (Celiberti) two strokes ahead of me, two strokes behind me, it's about picking out spots and the course, it doesn't really matter either, it's just as long as you have a target and make a good, committed swing."
In the three-hole aggregate playoff, Huang bogeyed the first hole, while Celeberti parred the first playoff hole and then birded the second to pull away.
Huang will play next in the NJ Open Championship July 25-27.
