Sondre Guttormsen Finishes 10th in Pole Vault at 2022 World Athletics Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Sondre Guttormsen of the Princeton University men's track & field team finished 10th in the pole vault late Sunday night, at the 2022 World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field.

Guttormsen's 10th-place finish came after a best mark of 5.70 meters. On his first attempt, Guttormsen cleared 5.55 meters, then followed by clearing 5.70 meters. While he came up just short at 5.80 meters, Guttormsen did enough to earn a top-10 finish.

Along with his top-10 finish at the World Athletics Championships, Guttorsmen was also the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Champion in the pole vault, a First Team All-American in both seasons, a Bowerman semifinalist, the Ivy League Champion in both seasons, along with a First Team All-Ivy League honoree.

In the qualification round, Guttormsen cleared 5.75 meters to earn a spot in the final. Simen Guttormsen also competed in the qualification round, clearing 5.65 meters and finishing t-15th.

Other Princeton men competing included Ed Trippas '22, who finished 20th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:23.83, and Nathan Crumpton '08, who finished 23rd in the 100 meters in 11.71.
