As Reigning Champs, Tigers Set to Host Princeton Invitational
September 16, 2022 | Women's Golf
The team champion at the event a year ago, the Princeton women's golf team will host the 24th Princeton Invitational Sept. 24-25 at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton.
Last September, Princeton shot even par as a team across the 54 holes to win the event by 15 strokes over runner-up Columbia. The total of 864 strokes broke a program record set earlier in the month (869) at the Penn State Invitational and became part of a fall season that saw the team turn in the three best 54-hole stroke totals in program history. Tiffany Kong, back for her senior season, led Princeton at -4, two strokes back of winner Amber Thornton of Albany. Princeton's last individual champ in the event was Susannah Aboff '09 in 2007.
The tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start for a two-round day Saturday and wrap up with a 9 a.m. shotgun start Sunday for the final round. All six Ivy League programs, in Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale, will join Albany, Fairleigh Dickinson, Georgetown, Holy Cross, St. John's and Seton Hall in the 12-team field. The course will have a par of 71 and measure 6,109 yards for the event.
Due to health and safety protocols, Princeton will be competing with three individuals for the tournament, with Caris Kim, Victoria Liu and Catherine Rao representing the Tigers.
Live scoring will be available via Golfstat here.
